Woman awarded compensation after Minister asked discriminatory questions
Compensation of €7,500 has been awarded to a woman who was asked by Minister of State John Halligan about her family circumstances in a job interview.
Minister Halligan asked the female public servant if she was married and had children.
The woman took a case to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), which found that she had been discriminated against under the Employment Equality Act.
Teacher accused of putting sellotape on mouths of students
The first ever Fitness to Teach inquiry has heard five students had red marks on their faces, after a teacher allegedly made them put sellotape on their mouths.
The teacher, who was subbing at the time, denies the allegations - saying the girls tapped their mouths themselves.
A three-member panel now has to decide if the teacher engaged in professional misconduct or not.
Gardaí renew appeal over 1984 murder of Marie Tierney
Kilkenny gardaí are renewing their appeal for information into the 1984 murder of Marie Tierney.
The 34-year-old was killed on an unknown date between October 21st and December 21st that year.
She lived with her husband and their children at Clintstown, Co Kilkenny where they ran a grocery store and petrol station.
Mrs Tierney was reported missing on October 22nd 1984 by her husband.
All sides to attend Labour Court talks over Irish Rail strike
Representatives of SIPTU, the NBRU and Irish Rail are to attuned Labour Court talks on Thursday.
It comes just a day after a strike at the company, with more actions planned on Tuesday November 14th, Thursday November 23rd and Friday December 8th.
The November 14th strike date will clash with the Ireland v Denmark World Cup play-off at Lansdowne Road.
Embattled British cabinet minister Priti Patel resigns
Priti Patel has resigned as Britain's international development secretary, according to Downing Street.
She returned to London at the request of British Prime Minister Theresa May over a series of undisclosed meetings with Israeli political figures.
Ms Patel was in Africa on an official trip when she was recalled to London.
