Fine Gael gives document to Independents which could be road-map for government

Fine Gael has given Independents a document it says it hopes could be a road-map for the formation of a government - including looking at closed garda stations and to tackle high interest rates charged by banks.

The party is to meet with the Independents again tomorrow morning, ahead of Dáil votes to elect a Taoiseach which are expected to see the stalemate continue.

Meanwhile Enda Kenny and Micheál Martin are expected to hold a meeting tomorrow evening - though arrangements for it are yet to be made.

Michaella McCollum to take legal action against newspaper over "intimidation"

Lawyers for the family of Michaella McCollum say they will issue legal proceedings against an Irish daily newspaper.

KRW Law says members of staff from the paper subjected Michaella and her family to "harassment and intimidation" as they tried to get into a taxi on Sunday.

They also confirmed that Ms McCollum, who was recently released from prison in Peru, was not paid for an interview she gave to RTÉ.

Central Bank paid severance package to person who never worked for them

A new report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) has found the Central Bank paid out a severance package to a person who never worked at the bank.

The document examined the management of severance payments in public sector bodies.

It says the Central Bank "had more frequent recourse to termination agreements and severance payments during the period under review than the other public bodies examined".

The messaging service, owned by Facebook, has now fully implemented strong end-to-end encryption on its platform. This means that anyone running the latest versions of the app will have their messages fully encrypted as standard.
