Investigations are underway across Europe following the latest findings in the horsemeat scandal.
UK authorities, who were working with the Gardai and the Department of Agriculture have now asked French police to investigate following the identification of the presence horse meat in products produced by a French company.
It's also reported that Europol, the EU's law enforcement agency, has begun investigations.
It comes after Findus beef lasagne products were found to contain up to 100 per cent horse meat.
The products were manufactured in Luxembourg by French owned company Comigel and were available in Ireland.
Aldi have also withdrawn products following an alert from the same company.
