European leaders are to hold another summit on June 30th, after failing to reach agreement on who should take the EU's top jobs.

European Council summit talks continued until the early hours of the morning, as part of efforts to fill roles such as European Commission and Council presidents.

However, Donald Tusk said there was "no majority on any candidate" agreed, and another summit is now needed.

A man and a teenage girl remain in Garda custody in the midlands after being arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday.

It is part of an investigation into a man's disappearance five months ago.

56-year-old William Delaney went missing in Portlaoise on January 31st.

The search of an area in Dunamaise, Portlaoise is set to resume this morning, gardaí say.

President Trump says it was a "very big mistake" for Iran to shoot down a US drone.

However, he also suggested it could have been a mistake - saying he found it "hard believe it was intentional".

It comes as US media outlets including The New York Times reported that Trump had approved strikes against Iran in retaliation, but ultimately pulled back before any missiles were launched.

The countries are disputing the circumstances of the downing of the drone.

Tehran says the unmanned aircraft had strayed into Iranian airspace - but America insists that wasn't the case.

The Environment Minister is to hold at least six town-hall meetings across the country on the new Climate Action Plan.

The first one is taking place in Cork today.

It's designed to give Richard Bruton the public's feedback on the plan, which is aimed at reducing Ireland's carbon-footprint.

A man in his 20s remains in hospital after being shot twice in Drogheda last night.

He received non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, which happened at around 8:20pm.
