The EU has called on Israel to respect the rights of its Palestinian prisoners saying its very concerned about the condition of four prisoners who have been on hunger strike. 

EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton says family visiting rights must be restored. She also says full respect for the prisoner's human rights must be protected. 

Her comments came a day after clashes in the West Bank as thousands of Palestinian demonstrators staged a protest in support of the four.
