Tests show levels of VTEC - a harmful strain of Ecoli that could lead to kidney failure - have doubled in private wells in the last year.

The Agency's new water quality report shows public supplies are continuing to improve with E- coli exceedances down by 90% since 2005.

They are calling on all owners of wells and those not on a public water supply to check their water source.
