The Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he is confident the same-sex marriage referendum will be passed.
It comes after a number of bishops spoke out against the proposed change to the Constitution at the weekend.
The leaders of dioceses across the country issued pastoral messages, offering their reasons for asking citizens to vote against the proposed amendment to the Constitution.
Mr Kenny says the Catholic church is entitled to make its case - but he says the vote on May 22nd is not about the Church, it is about civil law.
Speaking to Midwest Radio in Co Mayo, Mr Kenny said people are being asked one question in the referendum.
