An inquest into the death of a Cork man has heard how he died from catastrophic injuries sustained after his car collided with that of a suicidal taxi driver in England.

Con Twomey's 16 month old son Oisín, and his unborn baby daughter Elber Marie also died in the incident on July 6th, 2012.

The Coroner's court heard Marek Wojciechowski deliberately drove his car onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with the Twomey's, who were returning home from holiday.

It happened after a police officer had just attempted to stop Wojciechowski, amid concerns that the 26 year old was suicidal.

Oisin and his unborn sister Elber Marie were killed, while parents Con and Elber were seriously hurt.

Con died in hospital in Cork ten months later.

In a statement, Elber Twomey said she wants to "remember her beauties as they were before that July day" - she is organising an event in their memory next month.
