Fresh from his two sell-out dates at Croke Park last week, musician Ed Sheeran now looks set to try his hand at acting.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the incredibly popular singer-songwriter is set to take a recurring on a new TV show, colourfully titled The Bastard Executioner.
Sheeran is said to be playing Sir Cormac - "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder" - in the medieval drama.
The upcoming show is the latest from creator Kurt Sutter - best known for Sons of Anarchy. That show's Katey Sagal - also Sutter's wife - and True Blood's Stephen Moyer are leading the cast of the new historical epic.
Sheeran recorded a cover of Foy Vance's Make It Rain for the last season of Sons of Anarchy last year. The Bastard Executioner will mark his first major acting role, although he recently appeared on an episode of sitcom Undateable - and has of course contributed songs to several TV shows and films.
