A man accused of murdering his father at a Dublin flat is due to stand trial today. 74-year-old Edward Boylan was stabbed in the chest on January 7th 2012.
Edward Boylan Junior was arrested shortly after his father's body was found at his retirement flat in Kimmage.
The pensioner was found dead in his bed after firefighters were called out to a blaze at the Ravensdale Close complex. It was reported at the time that a large knife was sticking out of the victim's chest and firefighters believe the blaze was started maliciously.
Following Garda questioning his 30-year-old son who has an address at Leighlin Road in Crumlin was charged with his father's murder.
He denies the charge and his trial is due to begin at the Central Criminal Court this morning.
