A Dublin man told gardai 'I didn't do it' when charged with the murder of a father of two 4 years ago, a court has heard.
Peter Gunn's stabbed body was found in a ditch in Dunsoghly Lane in Finglas on January 15th 2009, 11 days after he went missing.
The 29-year-old had been out socialising with friends at a pub on Parnell Street on the evening before his disappearance.
In 2010, two men were arrested and one subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of withholding information while the other admitted impeding a prosecution.
Today 31-year-old Alan Hart appeared at Dublin District Court accused of murdering Peter Gunn at Clareville Grove in Glasnevin on January 4th.
He was dressed in white trainers, blue jeans and a grey hooded top and remained silent during the brief hearing at the Criminal Courts of Justice.
Legal aid granted
A statement of means was submitted and Judge Bryan Smyth granted him legal aid as he is in receipt of social welfare.
Detective Sergeant Alan Brady gave evidence that Alan Hart was arrested before 10am this morning outside Finglas Garda Station and replied 'I didn't do it' when charged after caution.
Because it is a murder charge the 31-year-old will have to apply to the High Court for bail.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.
