A Dublin city councillor has been arrested as part of a Greyhound protest in Coolock this morning.

The demonstration was in support of workers who are locked in a row with the company over pay cuts.

Anti-Austerity Alliance councillor Michael O'Brien was arrested on the Greencastle Road, as protestors blocked a Greyhound bin truck into an estate.

Mr O'Brien was subsequently released without charge and cautioned.

Earlier this month, the High Court ordered a group of protestors and striking workers not to interfere with the operations of the company.

The company accused them of orchestrating a city-wide operation of disrupting services as part of an ongoing dispute with workers over pay.

The waste management firm took legal action after bin lorries were allegedly blocked from collecting rubbish across Dublin city.

But Mr O'Brien says he will continue to support Greyhound workers in the on-going row.
