Dublin City Council is set to begin a "zero tolerance" crackdown on illegal dumping in the north inner city.

It comes after the area was declared a litter blackspot.

In a bid to tackle the issue, CCTV is being installed in the area.

People who wish to report incidents of illegal dumping or graffiti can freephone the council's litter hotline at 1800-251-500, or report an issue on their website.

Brian Hanney is from the waste management division of Dublin City Council.

He says they will be writing to everyone in the area over the next few days to inform them.
