A man has been injured in an assault in Dublin city centre.

It is understood the man aged in his 20s was stabbed in the incident on Parnell Square.

It happened at around 10.15pm last night.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital - but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
