Gardaí in Cork say they are treating the investigation into the deaths of 2 men in Kinsale last weekend as seriously as they would a murder inquiry.

It is thought a new street drug called ‘Mandy’ may be linked to the deaths of Michael Coleman and Liam Coffey whose bodies were found on Sunday morning.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) last night issued a warning about the dangers of a brown powder which contains MDMA and PMMA.

There have been cases of other deaths reported from the combination of the 2 chemical compounds across Europe.

It is believed a number of people have died from use of the drug across the continent.

There are also several on-line forums discussing the drug and the best way in which to take it.

Superintendent Eddie McKeown is from Bandon Garda Station says it is essential that Mandy is taken out of circulation.

He says it is the combination of chemicals which makes the drug so dangerous.
