A coast guard team has rescued a puppy who got trapped on the side of a cliff on Howth Head in Dublin. The 1-year-old Springer Spaniel pup, named Trixie, fell onto a narrow ledge just edges from a steep drop.

While out walking, Trixie had managed to run away from her owner and fell down about 10-feet to the narrow ledge. Below that ledge was a further 30-feet steep drop to the ground.

The Coast Guard Cliff Rescue team was called out to help. The team set up a cliff rescue and lowered down one of their climbers, Robin Blandford, to the dog.

After some talking to the apprehensive puppy, she slowly warmed up to her new Coast Guard friend. Trixie was then brought up in a Coast Guard "Doggy Bag" - a very low device to stop the dog and rescuer from getting too close on decent.

Trixie was reunited at the bottom with her delighted owner, and is said to be fine after her ordeal.
