David Bowie has confirmed that he will be releasing a new album in January of 2016 entitled Blackstar.
On his official website, Bowie stated that the first single off the album would be released on November 20th, and would also be called 'Blackstar'.
Bowie also has a theatre piece, Lazarus, in the works, however he confirmed that the album would be separate to that project.
The album will be a follow up to Bowie's 2013 album The Next Day, which as his first for over a decade. According to The Times, the album may well be his most unique record, while it will also be heavily influenced by the fact that it was "recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York with local jazz musicians".
The album will be released on Bowie's 69th birthday, January 8th 2016.
