Crimestoppers appeal for information on woman's murder from 2004

Crimestoppers has launched an appeal for information on the murder of a woman 11 years ago.

Paiche Onyemaechi was reported missing at Waterford garda station on July 10th 2004. She was a 25-year-old married mother of two young boys, living in Waterford.

She arrived in Ireland in 1999, and moved to Waterford in May 2001.

Her body was discovered in a field near Brenar Bridge, Piltown, in Co Kilkenny on July 23rd 2004 - roughly two miles north of Piltown on the road to Templeorum.

The bridge is located between Sandpits Crossroads and Jamestown Cross.

Speaking today, Detective Superintendent Michael Hennebry of Kilkenny garda station said: "We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to help us".

"We would like to speak to anyone who feels they have information relevant to this case, particularly those in the African community living in Waterford at the time, and also to the wider African Community living in Ireland".

"We are especially interested in speaking to the person who sent an anonymous letter to gardaí which contained information on the culprits in 2004".
