Almost 40 walk-in COVID-19 vaccination centres are opening throughout the country from today.

This service was offered for the first time ever yesterday, with three centres rolling it out.

However, centres across the country will be offering the service from today and over the rest of the bank holiday weekend.

Those aged over 16 are eligible to show up to get their first dose without an appointment.

The centres are currently not offering vaccines for teenagers aged 12-15.

Damien McCallion, the HSE's national lead for the vaccination programme, says the vast majority of the country's vaccination centres are operating as walk-in sites this weekend.

He has urged people to check the times each site is operating on a walk-in basis, as the times vary significantly from site to site.

While there are clinics in almost every county, the HSE says people can attend any of the walk-in clinics - meaning you're not just restricted to ones near your home.

Those who attend the sites will be offered either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

Anyone who hasn't already registered for a vaccine online is asked to bring photo ID, as well as to have their PPS number, Eircode, phone number and email address to hand.

Those who don't have a PPS number can still get vaccinated - they will need to bring proof of address instead (such as a household bill, bank statement or even a letter or bill from a hotel or Airbnb).

The walk-in sites are also open to those who have registered but are awaiting their first appointment - those people are asked to bring photo ID.

You can see the list of walk-in centres below, with full details about all the sites available on the HSE website.
