Health officials have announced 20 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the national total to 25,845.
No new deaths have been reported and the death toll remains at 1,763.
One previously confirmed case has since been denotified.
The acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease that is still circulating in our communities. It is a dangerous illness that no-one wants to catch.
“While we have reason to be positive, we now need to continue to work together towards our collective goal of resuming healthcare services, reopening our children’s schools, and protecting the most vulnerable.
“The past weeks have shown that when we maintain physical distance, wash our hands, wear a face cover where appropriate and cover our coughs and sneezes, together we can interrupt the spread of COVID-19. Let’s keep going.”
There were 11 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals this morning and five in intensive care.
As of midnight last night, over 592,000 COVID tests had been carried with over 29,000 coming back positive.
Nearly 9,000 people were tested the last 24 hours and, over the last two days, 0.2% of the tests carried out came back positive.
