There have been 1,382 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ireland today

It brings the five-day moving average of new COVID cases to 1,651 - a decrease of over 150 compared to this day last week, and almost 100 compared to yesterday.

As of this morning, there were 355 patients with COVID-19 in Irish hospitals.

Of those, 54 were in intensive care.

Today’s figures were released as Cabinet ministers signed off on the roadmap to ease remaining COVID restrictions over the next two months.

The vast majority of restrictions will be eased by October 22nd, with larger crowds to be allowed at live and sporting events from next week.

A full announcement is expected shortly after 6pm.
