A Kerry councillor has put forward a motion to apply for island status, in response to the continued delay of bypasses at Macroom in Cork and Adare in Limerick.
The motion by Councillor Michael Gleeson has received unanimous support from councillors.
Mr Gleeson is councillor for South Kerry with the Independent Alliance.
