SIPTU members at Dublin Street parking services are to be balloted on industrial action in a dispute over salary increases. Members are seeking a pay rise of 2.5% which they say has been outstanding since 2011.

Members will hold a secret ballot to vote on whether they should take strike action during a meeting on Monday March 10th.

It comes as the City Council plans to give them bonuses if they clamp over 60,000 cars this year.

Staff are said to have been told they will get a €2,000 bonus if these targets are met.

Dublin Street Parking Services are contracted by the Council to run the clamping service in the city centre.

Earlier this week, SIPTU members decided to vote on whether they should strike in a row over a promised pay increase from 2011.

John King is the services divisional organiser with SIPTU.
