There have been another nine coronavirus-related deaths in the Republic.

59 new cases of the virus have also been confirmed today.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country since the outbreak began now stands at 24,929, while the number of deaths has reached 1,651 (including three previously reported deaths being denotified).

Meanwhile, figures released earlier today showed 42 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units.

It compares to a peak of 160 patients last month.

The latest HSE figures also show 171 people are in hospital with a confirmed diagnosis - a drop of 22 since yesterday.
