There have been 429 new coronavirus cases confirmed in the Republic.

One further death has also been reported.

Today's new cases bring the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 36,155, while the number of deaths has reached 1,804.

77 of today's cases have been identified as community transmission.

189 cases were in Dublin, 60 in Cork, 31 in Donegal, 28 in Galway, 18 in Kildare, 15 in Wicklow, 15 in Clare, 12 in Limerick, nine in Meath, eight in Louth, seven in Cavan, seven in Longford, six in Laois, five in Offaly, five in Westmeath and 14 others spread across eight counties.

The virus' reproductive numbers is currently estimated to be between 1.2 and 1.4

NPHET's Prof Philip Nolan said he believes that Dublin is on the lower end of that estimate, while the rest of the country is on the higher end of the scale.

There are now 130 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals, with 20 cases in intensive care as of this morning.
