Gardaí in Cork are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which an elderly couple died.

Con and Mary McCarthy, who were in their 70s, were killed in a two car collision on the N20 Cork to Limerick Road, near Mallow, yesterday evening.

The couple were from Velvetstown in Buttevant, and are survived by three sons.

The driver of the other car - a woman in her late 20s - was not seriously injured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow garda station on 022-31450, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
