Cork City Council has issued a flood alert for parts of the city centre this morning.
The council says there is a danger of tidal flooding before and after high tide at around 9am.
It says the main impact is likely to be on traffic, but is warning residents and businesses to take precautionary measures.
The council says: "It is possible that flooding may occur in the low lying areas of the City Centre including: Union Quay, Morrison's Quay, Father Matthew Quay, South Terrace, Trinity Bridge, Georges Quay, South Mall, Cotter Street, Stable Lane, Lapps Quay, Proby's Quay, Frenchs Quay, Crosses Green, Sharman Crawford St, Wandesford Quay, Lavitts Quay, Kyrl's Street & Kyrl's Quay, Coal Quay, and the low lying areas of the City Centre."
Met Éireann is forecasting spells of rain and drizzle - heavy at times - across the country today.
A status yellow wind warning is also in effect nationally, with southeasterly winds expected to reach mean speeds of 45 to 60km/h with gusts of 80 to 100km/h (strongest at the coasts). The warning is in effect until 6am on Friday morning.
