Security measures are being increased in Belfast city centre after an explosion last night which could have killed or seriously injured people.
The incident in the - Cathedral Quarter area -came after a telephone bomb warning had been made - and hundreds of people were being evacuated just before 7 o'clock.
No-one was injured.
There's been widespread condemnation - the Taoiseach Enda Kenny has described the incident as "a mindless attack, carried out by people who's depraved agenda cannot, and will not, be allowed to gain a foothold in Northern Ireland". Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Secretary says it was a 'despicable' attack.
However, Theresa Villiers says it's not yet known who is responsible for the incident.
The PSNI has urged people to be vigilant in the run up to Christmas.
