The owners of the building on Dublin’s O’Connell Street that housed the former Clerys Department Store has been granted permission by the High Court to challenge a raid on its offices last week when a computer and documents were seized by inspectors from the Workplace Relations Commission.

Mr Justice Anthony Hunt granted permission to Investment company, D2 Private Ltd and its owner/director, Sligo woman, Deirdre Foley.

The Workplace Relations Commission is investigating the collective redundancies of hundreds of workers at Clerys following the controversial sale of its linked trading and property companies in June last year to a company called Natrium Ltd.

That company quickly liquidated the trading company and sold the property company on to D2.

Clerys was bought by Natrium and the company was liquidated in June 2015. Some 130 staff and 300 concession workers were let go without notice.

Last month a report commissioned by former Junior Minister Ged Nash last year in the wake of the sudden closure of Clerys department store in Dublin found that it was lawful.
