Officers from Revenue's Customs Service have seized eight million cigarettes, with a retail value of more than €4m at Dublin Port.

Officers stopped a Latvian-registered truck and trailer which sailed from Rotterdam last weekend.

Revenue says its detection dog Casey uncovered the "elaborate concealment" of cigarettes.

The 'Minsk Capital', 'NZ Gold' and 'Pect' brand cigarettes are believed to have originated in Belarus.
