Authorities in Chile have begun seizing copies of a version of Little Red Riding Hood - after it transpired an 'erotic' take on the classic children's fairy tale was distributed to school children.
BBC reports that copies of the book were accidentally sent to more than 280 primary schools over the last year.
Colombian author Pilar Quintana wrote the collection of six short stories entitled Caperucita se come al lobo, which translates as Riding Hood Eats the Wolf.
It is said to include explicit sexual content - including the rape of a 13-year-old girl and a sexual encounter between a teacher and student.
The mix-up is said to have been discovered after a young student in the town of Rio Bueno informed his teacher of the book's content.
The Chilean government says the offending volume "does not meet the appropriate pedagogical requirements to be included in the national curriculum".
Local media reports that the secretary of education in the country has confirmed that an investigation to discover how the mix-up occurred is already underway.
