The Central Bank has been accused of taking the biscuit with its latest food bill.
According to today's Sunday Business Post €55,000 was spent by the bank last year on biscuits.
The total is part of a sweet deal for the bank's 1,250 staff which sees their food, tea, coffee and refreshments subsidised to the tune of over one million euro.
Banks bosses says the treats are also snapped up at seminars and meetings, as well as press conferences and briefings.
The Central Bank did not confirm the annual spend on food and refreshments, but told the newspaper, "catering services costs includes costs for staff salaries, management fees to outsource providers, VAT, equipment maintenance, materials and ingredients".
The bank is set to move to a new €140 million 'eco-building' headquarters at Dublin's North Wall Quay in late 2016,
