A man has been tied up during an aggravated burglary in Galway.

The incident happened at a house on Eyre Street in the city centre at around 4am this morning.

The man is understood to be the owner of a nearby bar. He did not suffer any injuries during the robbery.

However a substantial sum of money was stolen by two men believed to be tens of thousands of euro.

Gardai at Millstreet Station in Galway are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
