Today is the last day for Leaving Certificate students to change thier mind on thier CAO options.

Applications close this evening for anyone who wants to choose a different range of 3rd-level courses. Up to one-third of students are expected to avail of the opportunity.

By 5:15pm this evening, applications will close for anyone trying to choose a different range of courses.

There is no fee for using the Change of Mind facility.

Students are reminded that if they submit a Change of Mind, it cancels and supersedes all the previous course choices in any category in which changes are made.

However, the choices in the two categories (Level 8 and Level 7/6) are considered to be completely separate from each other for this purpose.

Revised statement due by July 7th

If you make a change of mind, you will receive a revised Statement of Course Choices to confirm that your new course choices have been entered into your record.

If it does not arrive by July 7th, you should contact the CAO immediately, and provide proof of the submission of the Change of Mind.

The CAO says it is very important that course choices are correct and that if you are going to be absent at the time when the revised statement is due, you should arrange for someone to check that it arrives and, when it arrives, that the contents are correct and accurately reflects your choice.

Joanne Holland is careers officer at Limerick Institute of Technology. She says people should prioritise their interests.
