Business owners are calling for binding arbitration in order to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute involving Luas drivers.

Dublin Town's CEO, Richard Guiney, says strike action by drivers is having a detrimental effect on businesses in Dublin city.

Yesterday, Luas drivers announced that there will be work stoppages on six more days next month.

The June stoppages come in addition to four strikes planned for this month, with the next strike scheduled for tomorrow.

The Luas operator Transdev says the work stoppages are designed to cause maximum disruption to Luas customers and said it would be seeking legal advice.

Mr Guiney says a third party needs to intervene in an effort to resolve the situation.

"It certainly doesn't look as if the parties have a common ground or there is any movement, so perhaps it is at the point where somebody has to intervene and call for binding arbitration," he suggested.
