Official figures show an increase in burglaries and cases of fraud across the country.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) says all other classifications of crime fell in the 12 months to the end of September.
Other areas which saw falls include:
- sexual offenses (-0.7%)
- Harassment and related offences(-9.6%)
- Kidnapping and related offences (-10.8%)
- Controlled drug offences (07.1%)
Fraud, deception see increase
The CSO says burglaries and related offences went up 7.9% while fraud and deception jumped 6.2%.
This is compared to the same time last year.
Overall homicide offences are down including dangerous driving leading to death.
And some of the biggest drops were in offences relating to weapons and explosives which were down 17.4%.
Meanwhile public order offences which were down 12%.
However there was a 3-fold increase in the number of murders and cases of manslaughter.
And there were 325 fraud offences which a 6% increase.
