It has emerged that the British Prime Minister will visit Dublin in the New Year.
Theresa May is to hold talks with Enda Kenny at Government Buildings in January in relation to Brexit.
Arrangements with Downing Street are still being finalised.
The Taoiseach says Mrs May wants issues such as the rights of EU citizens living in Britain to be at the top of the agenda when the Brexit talks finally begin.
Enda Kenny said: "She did ask that when the discussions and negotiations do start, that the question of European Union people living in Britain and British people living in Europe would be dealt as an early part of those discussions.
"But that's separate from the traditional rights and relationships that Ireland have with the United Kingdom, and they with us," he added.
