60 Ministers of Parliament in the UK spent £70,000 on new iPads, new iPhones and laptops before an expenses dealing and have since been investigated by the Independent Parliament Standards Association (IPSA).
IPSA wrote to the MPs involved expressing their concern over the use of the devices. The authority wanted to ensure that they were being used exclusively for parliamentary purposes.
A moratorium was placed on capital expenses in September of last year and the MPs made their purchases ahead of its implementation.
The standards authority found that no rules had been broken but said that the MPs who retired or lost on May 7 should donate the gadgets to charity.
IPSA however had no power to implement the donation and so are looking to update their jurisdiction over it.
