The British actor Albert Finney has died aged 82, a family spokesman has said.
He passed away peacefully following a short illness.
Finney was born in Salford, near Manchester in 1936.
After early success as a Shakespearean actor, he made the move to film in the early 1960s.

His breakthrough roles came in the films Saturday Night and Sunday Morning and the 1963 hit Tom Jones.
The BFI says his "powerhouse performance" as a Nottingham factory worker in the former film "changed British screen acting".
He starred in dozens of other films over the course of his career - with some of his best-known work including the likes of Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Annie (1982), Miller's Crossing (1990) and Erin Brockovich (2000).
His most recent films were Skyfall and The Bourne Legacy in 2012.
He won a number of awards over the course of his career, including Golden Globe, Emmy and BAFTA awards for his portrayal of Wintson Churchill in TV film The Gathering Storm in 2002.
He was also nominated for an Oscar five times.
