A nine-year-old boy has died following a hit-and-run in Bundoran, Co Donegal. 

Gardaí said the boy was hit by a car on Atlantic Way at approximately 9.20pm and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. 

“The vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene,” they said. 

The body was brought to Sligo hospital for a post-mortem examination. 

Investigations are ongoing, and Gardaí are appealing for both witnesses of the collision and the driver of the car to come forward. 

Anyone with camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling near Atlantic Way and Sea Road last night are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
