A 10-year-old boy who was knocked off his bike in County Carlow yesterday afternoon has died in hospital.

The boy was airlifted to Temple Street Children's Hospital after the collision with a jeep in the Ballymartin area of Borris at around 1:30pm.

This morning Gardaí confirmed that he has since passed away.

Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who were in the area and may have camera footage.
