A three-year-old boy has died following an incident on a farm in Co Wexford.

It happened in a farmyard at Carrigabruise, Carlerys Bridge in Enniscorthy at approximately 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The child received serious injuries when he was hit by what is described as a low loader.

He was taken to Wexford General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí have said investigations are continuing.
