Gardaí are investigating after the body of a woman in her 80s was discovered in Co Wexford last night.

The woman's body was found at her home in Wexford town at around 9.30pm

It has emerged that the body may have lain undiscovered for up to two months.

The body was transferred to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out next week.

The result of the post mortem examination will determine the course of their investigation into the death.

It is understood that the Gardai are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious.
