The body of a woman has been found at a house in County Meath.

The discovery was made at around 5 pm this evening in a house at Edgeworth Court in Longwood, which is around 15 kilometres from Trim.

Gardai say the woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man who was also in the house has been taken to Mullingar General Hospital to be treated for injuries - however his condition is not known.

Gardai have sealed off the house for a technical examination.

The State Pathologist's Office has been notified.

The woman's body remains at the scene pending the arrival of a pathologist.
