A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with producing a weapon after his father was shot in a restaurant in Dublin on Christmas Eve.

Brandon Hennessy, of Sheephill Avenue, Dublin 15, is also charged with violent disorder arising from the same incident at Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown.

His father, 48-year-old Jason Hennessy Senior, died in hospital 11 days later.

The gunman, 26-year-old Tristan Sherry, died at the scene after being tackled and disarmed - two men have since been charged with his murder.

Mr Hennessy was granted bail today and is due back in court in March.
