The Bishop of County Down and Dromore, Harold Miller is afraid dissident republicans will attempt further assaults in the North as we approach the centenary of the Easter Rising.

The PSNI released a similar warnings yesterday after prison officer was taken to hospital yesterday when a bomb detonated under a vehicle in Belfast.

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood also condemned the bombing, saying the people who carried out the attack have no public support.

The 52-year-old man suffered serious leg injuries, and remains a stable condition in hospital this morning.

It is understood he was driving to work when the device detonated in Hillsborough Drive, off Woodstock Road, at 7.10am.

Detectives are examining the possibility that the bomb may have dislodged from the vehicle as it went over a speed bump.

Bishop Harold Miller says the communities are on high alert ahead of the centenary of the Easter Rising.
