A new Bill that would give new rights to transgender people is being published later today.

The legislation would give official recognition to people who wish to change their originally assigned gender on legal documents, birth certificates and passports.

The Gender Recognition Bill is being promoted by 3 Independent Senators - among them Senator Katherine Zappone, who says Ireland is behind the times in this area.
