The baby girl found in Co Wicklow on Wednesday may have been born some weeks earlier than initially thought.

The remains of the baby were found at a recycling plant in Bray by a worker sorting refuse.

Post mortem results on the baby's remains reveal she may have been born some weeks earlier than initially thought, and that there is nothing to suggest any deliberate harm was done to her.

Gardaí also confirmed that the baby was a Caucasian female.

Detectives at Bray garda station are heading up this investigation and have said that their priority now is the health and welfare of the mother.

They have again appealed to her to seek medical attention and to contact them.

Adding that if the baby's mother or father were to contact them, they would be treated 'discreetly and sensitively'.

It is not known what part of the country the mother is from and gardaí also appealed to the woman's family members who may have information to pass it on.

An incident room has been established and gardaí can be contacted on 01-666-5300.

And Tusla, the child and family agency, has also established a dedicated helpline on 076-695-8400.
