One-year-old Kimberley Gordon had to be born two weeks prematurely after her mother was struck by lightning.
Her mother, Kendra Villanueva, and her husband Ian Gordon were struck by lightning at an Independence Day fireworks display in July last year. It is believed the lightning bolt entered through Ian Gordon's ear drum, jumped to the mother's body and exited out her thumb.
The couple were rushed to University of New Mexico Hospital where doctors performed an emergency C-section.
One year later and baby Kimberley still suffers neurological damage from the lightning strike. She is unable to sit up, crawl or digest food properly.

Her hair has also been static since birth and doctors are unable to explain this strange occurrence.
The emergency medical technician who treated the couple reportedly told them that there have only been 11 incidents on record ever of a pregnant woman getting struck by lightning. Of those 11, he said that only half of the newborns survived.
Kimberley's parents call their miracle child 'Mini Flash Gordon' and hope she will one day grow up and lead a normal life.
