A baby boy is in a critical condition at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar following a serious road crash in Longford.

3 adults and 4 children were in the vehicle when it crashed on the Lanesborough Road just outside Ballymahon.

All of them were hospitalised.

A Garda forensic team is currently on site examining the scene and the road is likely to remain closed for a number of hours with diversions now in place.

M50 collision

There are also heavy delays on the M50 Northbound in Dublin after a 3-car collision.

Gardaí are at the scene of the crash at Junction 3 near Santry.

It is understood none of the people involved in the crash were seriously injured.
